Meet your new bff

With a decade of experience in planning events, ranging from large-scale corporate galas to intimate social gatherings between families, I’d have to attribute my first moments of inspiration to my childhood. When I was 12, my mother hired a Feng Shui master to bless our house and read our fortunes based on our time and date of birth. He determined that I would work in “design”, so I wrote in my journal at night that I would one day become a wedding planner and shuffled this idea to the back of my mind.

Flash forward to high school, it’s the mid-2000s and romantic comedies ruled the box office. I remember buying my first wedding planning book from a... now-defunct bookstore chain and fantasizing about all the fascinating aspects of the wedding world: place settings, floral arrangements, and venues. I felt like Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner, poring through every detail and planning for the perfect event that existed only in my head. I was convinced that this was only a career you see in the movies and decided to pursue an education in criminal justice instead.

Still unsure if criminal justice was for me and with wedding planning still on my mind, I decided to reach out to a few local planners to see if I can gain some insight into the industry and I ended up getting an amazing opportunity to intern with a wedding-planning veteran in San Francisco. I had never seriously considered this as a possible career path, and it felt ludicrous to pivot into something that I only studied for fun. Even though I had no formal training, the planner saw a drive and passion in me- taking me on to assist her with luxurious weddings all over the Bay Area.

From that moment on, I haven’t looked back since. After countless hours and hundreds of different events for other agencies, it’s no longer a fantasy. I get to plan the perfect day for all my lovely couples in my very own version of The Wedding Planner.
